Mr. Pierce represents multi-national corporations, domestic corporations, and individuals in all aspects of intellectual property law. He specializes in patent and trademark law, as well as intellectual property agreements. His patent practice focuses on infringement litigation, patent prosecution (both U.S. and international), infringement and invalidity opinions, and patentability opinions. His trademark practice focuses on infringement litigation, opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the USPTO, and counseling on the selection, use, and filing for trademarks in the U.S. and countries around the world. Mr. Pierce strives to develop strategies to avoid counterproductive patent and trademark disputes, and to assist clients in developing strategies for patent protection, trademark selection, and intellectual property enforcement and portfolio management.

Mr. Pierce has been counsel to clients involved as both plaintiff and defendant in infringement suits in district courts around the country. He has directly participated in every aspect of litigation, including investigating facts and claims, managing discovery, drafting and arguing motions, selecting expert witnesses, deposing the adversary’s fact and expert witnesses, and taking witness testimony during trial. Mr. Pierce has also represented clients in mediations of intellectual property disputes.

Mr. Pierce’s transactional practice focuses on drafting and negotiating intellectual property licensing and ownership transfers, technology development agreements, joint development agreements, and non-disclosure agreements.

Mr. Pierce is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Federal and Fifth Circuits, and the United States District Courts for the Western, Middle, and Eastern Districts of Louisiana, for the Western, Eastern and Southern Districts of Texas, and for the Eastern District of Michigan.
