Jerry V. Walker has expertise in the areas of inorganic and bioinorganic chemistry, molecular biology, enzymology, protein purification, computational biology, gene therapy and structural biology.

Additionally, Dr. Walker has worked in the area of materials science, natural products chemistry and spearheaded pre-clinical GMP trials for a medical device startup.

Before joining the firm, Dr. Walker was a postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital where her research centered on elucidating mechanisms of drug action with an aim of designing new and more therapeutically effective anticancer and antibacterial agents. Specifically, Dr. Walker’s research focused on the mechanism of action of anti-topoisomerase targeting drugs by evaluating mutations in topoisomerase II utilizing yeast model systems. Dr. Walker’s graduate research was in the area of marine bioinorganic chemistry with an emphasis on transition metal catalysts. Dr. Walker was also a UNCF-MERCK postdoctoral research award recipient.

Dr. Walker has over ten years of experience in the preparation and prosecution of patents in the chemical and pharmaceutical arts.  Dr. Walker has drafted and prosecuted patent applications in the field of energy and natural resources exploration such as wellbore drilling fluid and lost circulation fluid chemistry, wellbore completion and stimulation chemistry, hydraulic fracturing fluids including proppants and gel systems, in situ wellbore servicing compositions, scale inhibitors, sealants and cement slurry compositions and modifiers, coal and tar sands technologies, enhanced oil recovery compositions and methodologies, extractive technologies, quality control methodologies for wellbore servicing materials, crystallographic characterization of wellbore servicing materials, biodegradable materials for use in wellbore servicing, and a variety of specialty wellbore servicing fluid additives.  Dr. Walker has drafted and prosecuted patent applications in the field of polymer chemistry relating to subjects such as novel polymer compositions, polymer modifiers, and catalysts and processes for utilization of same.  Dr. Walker has also drafted and prosecuted patent applications in the pharmaceutical field relating to subjects such as generic drugs, stem-cell compositions, blood substitutes, diagnostic markers for disease states, novel viral vectors, and drug polymorphs.
